The political atmosphere in Anambra was charged on Wednesday as the All Progressives Congress (APC), as part of build up for the November 18 governorship election held a grand rally and grand finale in Awka.
The rally witnessed the attendance of the President and prominent party faithfuls, including APC Governors, Senators and Ministers.
One of the highlight of the event was the decamping of Odimegwu Ojukwu Jnr., the first son of the late Biafran warlord and Igbo leader, Chief Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu.
Ojukwu Jnr., mounted the podium to express his support for the APC’s candidate, Tony Nwoye. In his speech, he accused his former party APGA of using his father’s name to achieve their individual selfish interests.
He said that APGA is only a means to an end and not an end itself. He further said that he doesn’t want to play a part in the misuse of his father’s name by APGA, a party which according to him has derailed from its original plan of being a party that represents the interest of the Igbos.
