The Igbo community in Badagary ably led by Chief Steve Etolue, KSM (Eze Chimelu) Eze Ndi Igbo na Badagary yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Governing Board of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Hon (Chief) Nduka Anyanwu to identify with him and congratulate him on his appointment and further thank him for the good work he has been doing in the college.
Addressing his guests, Hon. Anyanwu assured the Igbo community of protecting their interests in matters concerning the college. He stated that this is the first time an Igbo man is being appointed to head the college since its inception in 1972.
He asked the Igbo community resident in Badagary, especially those working in the college to continue to imbibe good virtues as he assured them of his continued support whenever the need may arise.
“I’m aware that there are numerous challenges facing the college, and I am here to put most of them to bed. I wish to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for this priviledge to serve my country and you my people working here”, he said.
Anyanwu reiterated his intent to leave the college better than he met it. “By the records, I am the youngest Chairman ever appointed to head this place (ASCON), the expectation are high but I’m committed to living up to them, through delivering selfless service to the college and everyone associated with it”, he said.
Reacting to the Chairman’s address, Chief Steve Etolue, Eze Chimelu na Badagary thanked the Chairman for identifying with the Badagary Igbo Community, he observed that the Chairman was younger than he expected which according to him, is a good thing.
“Mr. Chairman, we choose to pay you this visit so we can identify with you and present our brothers and sisters working here to you. Our interest is that after your stay here this place will be taken to greater heights”, Chief Etolue said.
He further assured the Chairman of the support of the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo community in Badagary. He urged members of the Igbo community who are staff of the college to be of best behaviour especially now that they are priviledged to have their brother as the Chairman of the college.
