A group known as iStandWithAndyUba group yesterday (Saturday) drummed support for the distinguished Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Sen. Dr. Andy Uba.
The group which met in Awka to celebrate their one year anniversary used the opportunity to highlight the person and deeds of Senator Andy Uba. They described the Senator as one of the most courageous politician of his time.
The event which witnessed an appreciable turn out of members of the group, fans and supporters of the distinguished Senator was graced by the crème de la crème of the grassroots and social media arm of the group.
The event in its highlight witnessed the unveiling of the Meet With Andy Uba Conspectus, a compendium of equitable and factual representation of distinguished Senator Andy Uba. The book contains in details the bills and motions so far sponsored by Senator Andy Uba, highlighting it’s impact and potential impact on the society. A section of the book showed and discussed the constituency projects of the Senator with a clear indication of their locations and stages of completion.
The Chairman of the occasion and founder of the group. Mr Samuel Okonkwo used the opportunity to laud the distinguished Senator’s exploits in the National Assembly. He highlighted the bills (over 15 of them) and motions sponsored and moved by the amiable Senator.
Okonkwo, further used the opportunity to appreciate the Senator for being one of the most outstanding voices in the National Assembly. He thanked the Senator for the way and manner he has so far carried himself in the red chambers.
The coordinator of the group Mr Kingsley Ubani who introduced the book written by the group in honour of the Senator for his good works in the Senate and to the good people of Anambra south, noted that the Senator being a man of few words, in his signature calm and gentlemen nature exhibits the highest level of discernment in the Senate. He brought the attention of the crowd to a Motion on the Abuse of Expatriate Quota by Foreign Multinationals moved during the week by the Senator. “The Motion amongst other things seeks to reduce the unemployment gap and free up more jobs taken up by the expatriate in Nigeria”, Ubani Said.
Other highlights of the event were the presentation of Award to the most outstanding member of the group Mr Ugochukwu Moneme by the secretary of the group, Miss Ifunanya Faithmicheal admist other speeches by members of the groups and admirers of the Senator.
