Senator Uche Ekwunife has urged Christians to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice as Christians all over the world mark the remembrance of the risen Christ.
In a message delivered through her media office, Senator Uche Ekwunife said that the death and resurrection of Christ is a constant reminder of the task Christians are called to do, which is to give unconditional service to the church and be a gift to one another.
She stressed that servant leadership remains the best form of leadership while using the opportunity to call on her colleagues in government to embrace a leadership style that is people orientated.
Continuing, she said: “Easter calls for a moment of reflection between the leaders and the led. Christ came that we may have life and have it abundantly, so those who are opportuned to be in positions of authority should see it as a call to serve, for a good service to the people gives life to the society”.
She stressed the need for the people to always hold their leaders accountable while reiterating her commitment to accountability. “Leadership is half baked without accountability; for each time I’ve been lucky enough to earn the people’s mandate, i have tried to live up to their expectations”, she said.
She went further to say that Christ died that we may be renewed and become a new creation, a creation that will exist in harmony with fellow creations, hence she used the opportunity to call for unity amidst our divergent cultural, social and political views.
