It was a gathering of personalities today (Wednesday) at Ekwueme park, Awka, Anambra state as human and vehicular movement grounded to a halt as the President and the commander in chief of the arm forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria and his party faithfuls made a strong claim to take over the seat of power come Saturday at the governorship polls in Anambra.
The occasion was graced by prominent individuals and members of the All Progressives Congress.
In attendance were, the Governor’s of Bauchi, Ondo, Plateau, Imo, Kogi, Niger, Kastina, Kebbi and Sokoto state.
Also at the occasion was the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, former governor Sullivan Chime, Dr Ibeh Kachikwu, Sen Chris Ngige, Sen Andy Uba, Sen Uche Ekwunife, former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, Foreign affairs minister, the APC National women leader and a host of others.
Asides the presence of the President and top members of the party hierarchy, Odimegwu Ojukwu Jr., the first son of Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu was also present as he officially decamped from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to join the APC calling his former party APGA a party of deceivers.
Forming the highlight of the event was presentation of the party’s candidate and flag bearer, Dr Tony Nwoye to the President.
The President while endorsing the 42 year old Nwoye extended a hand of fellowship to the Igbo nation. He clamoured for togetherness and assured Anambrarians that the APC has nothing but the interest of the people at heart.
