On Friday, July 5, 2019, at Nelo’s Place Events Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, Bigcode Nigeria Limited bagged the NiRA ( Nigeria Internet Registration Association ) .ng Company of the Year Award, for the second year running, at the 2019 .ng Awards.

The .ng Awards celebrate the achievements and innovation of Nigerian Internet initiatives. The awards aim to showcase Nigerian businesses, individuals, charity, public and private sector organizations which help to make the Internet a more secure, open, accessible and rewarding experience for all.
The .NG company of the year award is presented to the company, organization that has demonstrated excellence in business innovation, online user experience and commitment to the Nigeria Internet community while embracing sound business practices.
It will be recalled that, Bigcode won the same award at the 2018 .ng Awards.
The annual .ng Awards, is an award given, based on merit and no monetary value is attached to it.
“When the .ng Awards was birthed, its aim was to celebrate excellence, without prejudice, so, the awards are based, purely, on merit and no monetary value is attached to any award”, the President of NiRA, Muhammed Rudman, explained, while reading his Presidential Speech at the event.
Goodwill messages were sent in from the supervising Agency of NiRA, the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA and also from the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, as well as the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC.
The Nigeria Internet Registration Association, (NiRA), is the administrator of and the non-governmental, self-regulatory body, for the .ng Country Code Top Level Domain, (ccTLD) and its sub-level domain names, in Nigeria.
Aside from Bigcode, some of the other Award winners include, Gigalayer that won the Startup Company of the Year Award, Lagos State that won the Digital Innovation in State Government Award, Fidelity Bank, that won the Best Banking, or, Insurance Website/Portal Award, Tfhost, that won the Best Local Hosting Company Award, Iroko TV, that won the Best Electronic Media Website, (Television & Radio), among many other awards given at the event.
One of the Presidential Awards, the NiRA, given, at the discretion of the Muhammed Rudman, NiRA President, was the Special Recognition Award that was given to the DG/CEO, National Information Technology Development Agency, (NITDA), Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, for his role in the development of ICT in Nigeria. The award was received on his behalf by Dr. Chidi Agu, Director, Planning & Strategy, NITDA.
The NiRA President also congratulated the heroes of the .ng existence, the various nominees who proudly projected their businesses using the .ng brand in the course of the year. “Your Zeal and patriotism are one of the motivating factors for us in NiRA, making us push the bar higher every year”, he reiterated.
The award ceremony attracted various players in the ecosystem and dignitaries from different part of the country.
